When you go to pick up the new plug, buy a metric deep socket to match, and it does NOT need to be a plug socket, I've had no problem with breaking the insulators, and all my plug sockets are gutted. The only other tool in the kit you truly need is the belt tensioner, and if you grew up with muscle cars, you can set the belt tension the same as a standard v-belt or blower belt. The akle nut is 24mm, and areal wrench is better than the factory offering. As for the cover, I can likely walk you through forming one up from fiberglass. It isn't all that bad to do, just a bit messy/time consuming. The factory piece has a bad tendency to rust out anyway due to its close proximity to the battery. And the other piece of advice I can offer is go to an HD aftermarket shop and buy a toolroll. Mount it to the lower fork clamp (tripletree), put your real tools in there, and unless it gets stolen, you won't have the lost tool issue again; plus it can hold a real toolkit. A bike that old, especially a single cylinder machine, requires abit more TLC than your equivalent late model.
